Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peningkatan kualitas produk susu fermentasi dengan menggunakan khamir Kluyveromyces lactis dan penambahan jagung manis. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor dan 2 level, yaitu faktor penambahan jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Linn) (A) terdiri atas 25% (a1) dan 75% (a2), dan faktor penambahan khamir Kluyveromyces lactis (B) terdiri atas 0.5% (b1) dan 1% (b2), dengan lima kali ulangan pada masing-masing perlakuan sehingga memperoleh 20 satuan percobaan. Parameter yang diamati antara lain adalah kadar protein, kadar lemak, kadar asam laktat dan derajat keasaman (pH). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan khamir Kluyveromyces lactis tidak berpengaruh nyata (P0.05) terhadap kadar protein, lemak, kadar asam laktat dan derajat keasaman (pH). Sementara penambahan jagung manis tidak berpengaruh nyata (P0.05) terhadap kadar protein dan derajat keasaman (pH), namun berpengaruh sangat nyata (P0.01) terhadap kadar lemak dan kadar asam laktat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan khamir Kluyveromyces lactis 1% dan jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Linn) 75% pada produk susu fermentasi dapat meningkatkan kualitas produk susu.  (Potential of yeast-Kluyveromyces lactis in improving quality of fermented milk added sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Linn)) ABSTRACT. The aims of this research were to determine the quality improvement of fermented milk products using Kluyveromyces lactis and the addition of sweet corn. This study used factorial experiment conducted with completely randomized design (CRD) which divide into 2 factors and 2 levels, there were the addition of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Linn) factors (A) consist of 25% (a1) and 75% (a2), and the addition of yeast Kluyveromyces lactis factors (B) consist of 0.5% (b1) and 1% (b2), with five replications on each treatment to obtain 20 units of experiment. The observed parameters such as protein levels, fat levels, lactic acid levels and acidity degree (pH). Research data were analyzed statistically by using ANOVA and continued by Duncan's tests. The results showed that the addition of yeast Kluyveromyces lactis had no significant effect (P 0.05) on protein levels, fat levels, lactic acid levels and acidity degree (pH). While the addition of sweet corn had no significant effect (P 0.05) on protein levels and acidity degree (pH), but it had a very significant effects (P 0.01) on fat levels and lactic acid levels. The results indicate the addition of yeast Kluyveromyces lactis 1% and sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Linn) 75% in fermented milk products can improve the quality of dairy products.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh perbedaan lama pemeraman dan aras starter mikroba pencerna serat dari rumen kerbau terhadap komponen serat dan perubahan struktur jaringan sabut kelapa fermentasi. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial 3x3 dan 4 ulangan. Fermentasi sabut kelapa menggunakan mikroba pencerna serat dari rumen kerbau sebagai starter dengan perlakuan aras starter (0, 2,5 dan 5%) dan lama peram (0, 7 dan 14 hari). Parameter yang diamati adalah komponen serat dan perubahan struktur jaringan. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam, dilanjutkan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat pengaruh interaksi (P0,05) antara perbedaan aras starter dan lama peram terhadap kadar neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemiselulosa, selulosa dan lignin. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penurunan kadar komponen serat serta peningkatan kerusakan jaringan seiring dengan peningkatan aras starter dan lama pemeraman. Hal ini disebabkan oleh penurunan kadar selulosa dan lignin sedangkan kadar hemiselulosa tidak dipengaruhi. Hal ini didukung oleh pengamatan terhadap perubahan struktur jaringan.  (Fiber components of fermented coconut husk using fibre degrading microbes from buffalo rumen) ABSTRACT. This study aimed to examine the effect of different fermentation periods and levels of fiber-degrading microbial starter from buffalo rumen fluid on fiber component and tissue structure alteration of coconut husk. The experimental design used was factorial randomized complete 3x3 and 4 replications. The coconut husk fermentation was using fiber-degrading microbial obtained from buffalo rumen fluid as a starter with different treatments of starter levels (0, 2.5 and 5%) and fermentation periods (0, 7 and 14 days). Parameters observed were fiber component and tissue structure alteration. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results of this research showed that there was no interaction effect (P0.05) between starter level and fermentation period on NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin contents. The conclusion of this research was decreased fiber component content and damage to tissue structure of coconut husk along with increased starter level and fermentation period. This is caused by decreased levels of cellulose and lignin while hemicellulose levels were not affected. This is supported by observations of changes in tissue structure alteration.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Performa produksi, jumlah folikel dan berat organ reproduksi diukur pada 40 ekor ayam petelur yang diberi perlakuan penambahan 5% tepung daun tumbuhan obat yaitu daun Katuk (5%TDK), daun Marigold (5%TDM), daun Senduduk (5%TDS) ke dalam ransum. Variabel yang diamati meliputi konsumsi ransum, persentase produksi telur, egg mass production, konversi ransum, berat dan panjang organ reproduksi dan jumlah folikel. Penambahan tepung tanaman obat tidak mempengaruhi konsumsi ransum ayam petelur. Hasil perhitungan persentase produksi telur mingguan menunjukkan hasil yang sama pada semua perlakuan. Perlakuan 5% tepung tanaman herbal tidak mempengaruhi egg mass production. Konversi ransum pada semua kelompok perlakuan tanaman obat adalah sama. Pemberian tepung tanaman obat di dalam ransum petelur tidak berpengaruh nyata pada jumlah folikel. Berat dan panjang organ reproduksi tidak dipengaruhi oleh perlakuan tepung tanaman obat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan 5% tepung daun Katuk, Marigold dan Senduduk dalam ransum menunjukkan konsumsi ransum, persentase produksi telur, egg mass production, konversi ransum, bobot dan panjang oviduk, berat ovarium dan jumlah folikel yang sama pada ayam petelur.         (Efficacy of medicinal plants on production performance and reproductive characteristics of laying hens) ABSTRACT. Efficacy of Katuk leaf meal, Marigold leaf meal and Senduduk leaf meal on production performance and reproductive characteristics were evaluated. Forty layers aged 32 weeks were distributed into 4 dietary treatments. The layers were housed in individual battery. One-way ANOVA treatment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design was used in this experiment. Dietary treatments were P0 (control without medicinal leaf meal), P1 (diet with 5% Katuk leaf meal), P2 (diet with 5% Marigold leaf meal), P3 (diet with 5% Senduduk leaf meal). This research measured feed intake, egg production, percentage of egg production, feed conversion ratio, number of follicles, weight of ovary, weight and length of oviduct as parameters. Significant results were tested by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The result showed that dietary treatments of medicinal leaf did not affect feed intake and feed conversion ratio of layers. Egg production percentage and egg mass production, the number of follicles, and length and weight of oviduct were similar of all medicinal leaf meal treatments. It can be concluded that feeding medicinal leaf meal did not affect production performance, number of follicles and weight of reproductive organs.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Keong mas (Pomacea canaliculata L.) merupakan bahan pakan alternatif bagi unggas yang memiliki kandungan protein tinggi yang hampir sama dengan tepung ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian tepung ikan dengan tepung keong mas (TKM) didalam ransum basal terhadap plasma metabolit yang meliputi total kolesterol (TCHO), trigliserida (TG), glukosa (GLU), dan total protein (TP) pada ayam broiler fase starter. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap menggunakan 60 ekor DOC dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, masing-masing perlakuan dipelihara selama 21 hari. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini adalah penggantian tepung ikan dengan TKM dengan level 0, 3, 6, dan 9%. Parameter yang diukur adalah TCHO, TG, GLU dan TP. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa penggantian tepung ikan dengan TKM pada level 9% berpengaruh nyata (P0,05) meningkatkan TCHO, GLU dan TP ayam broiler, namun tidak berbeda nyata (P0,05) terhadap TG. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penggantian tepung ikan dengan TKM di dalam ransum basal dapat mengubah kadar plasma metabolit yang meliputi TCHO, GLU, dan TP pada ayam broiler fase starter. Selanjutnya, level TKM yang digunakan untuk menggantikan tepung ikan tidak boleh melebihi 6% khususnya untuk mencapai level terbaik TCHO di dalam plasma ayam broiler fase starter.  (Effect of fish meal substitution with golden snail meal (Pomacea canaliculata L.) in basal ration with on plasma metabolites in broiler starter period) ABSTRACT. Gold snail is an alternative feed with high protein content and almost similar to protein content of fish meal. This study aims to determine the effect of substitution of fish meal with golden snail meal (GSM) in basal ration on plasma metabolites including total cholesterol (TCHO), triglyceride (TG), glucose (GLU) and total protein (TP) in starter broiler chickens. The research design in this study was a Completely Randomized Design, using 60 DOCS of broiler chickens (Cobb) with four treatments and five replications with each treatment consisted of 3 broilers chickens. The chickens were kept from DOC until 21 days old. The treatment in this study was the substitution of fish meal with GSM at levels 0, 3, 6 and 9% in basal ration in broiler chickens. The observed parameter in this study were TCHO, TG, GLU and TP. The results of this study showed that the substitution of fish meal with GSM in basal ration up to level 9% significantly (P0.05) increased TCHO, GLU and TP but did not affect TG in broiler chickens. The conclusion of this study that the substitution of fish meal with GSM in basal ration altered plasma metabolites including TCHO, GLU and TP in broiler starter period. Moreover, the maximum level of GSM substitution for fishmeal should not exceed 6% especially to achieve the best level of TCHO in plasma broiler chicken starter period.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tingkat peradangan ambing merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi produksi dan kualitas susu sapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara produksi dan kualitas susu yang dihasilkan sapi mastitis. Materi yang digunakan adalah 30 ekor sapi perah Friesian Holstein (FH) dengan periode laktasi III-V dan bulan laktasi 3-4. Tingkat peradangan ambing diuji menggunakan California mastitis test (X1) dan jumlah sel somatik (X2) dengan metode Breed dihubungkan dengan produksi (Y1) atau kualitas susu (lemak : Y2, protein = Y3 dan laktosa = Y4). Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebanyak 30% kuartir ambing dinyatakan sehat sedangkan 70% kuartir ambing terinfeksi mastitis subklinis dengan tingkat peradangan yang berbeda. Terdapat hubungan antara tingkat peradangan ambing dengan produksi susu berpola linier negatif nyata (P 0,05) dengan persamaan Y1 = 16,126 - 3,064X1 - 0,001X2 dan koefisien korelasi kuat (r = 0,740). Hubungan antara tingkat peradangan ambing dengan kualitas susu (lemak, protein, laktosa) berpola linier negatif nyata (P 0,05) dengan persamaan Y2 = 3,481 - 0,157X1 - 0,000X2 (r = 0,739), Y3 = 3,048 - 0,124X1 - 0,000X2 (r = 0,653) dan Y4 = 4,605 - 0,106X1 - 0,001X2 (r = 0,623). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan antara tingkat peradangan ambing dengan produksi dan kualitas susu dimana semakin tinggi tingkat peradangan ambing maka produksi dan kualitas susu akan mengalami penurunan.  (Evaluation of milk production and quality in mastitis cows) ABSTRACT. The level of udder inflammation is one of the factors that can affect the production and quality of cow's milk. This study was aimed to determine the relationship between milk production and quality produced by mastitis cows. The material used was 30 Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy cows with a lactation period of III-V and a lactation month of 3-4. Inflammation degree of the mammary gland was determined by the California mastitis test (X1) and somatic cell count (X2) with a breed method relationship between milk production (Y1) or milk quality (fat: Y2, protein: Y3, and lactose: Y4) were determined by the multiple linear regression. The results showed that 30% of the udder quarter were healthy while 70% of the udder quarter were infected with mastitis with different levels of inflammation. There was a strong negative correlation (P 0,05; r = 0.740) between milk production, CMT and SCC score with Y1 = 16.126 - 3.064X1 - 0.001X2. Moreover, the correlation between milk production and milk quality (fat, protein, lactose) also showed a strong negative linear correlation (P 0,05) with the equation Y2 = 3.481 - 0.157X1 - 0.000X2 (r = 0.739), Y3 = 3.048 - 0.124X1 - 0.000X2 (r = 0.653) and Y4 = 4.605 - 0.106X1 - 0.001X2 (r = 0.623). In conclusion, the increased mammary inflammation level will result the decrease in milk production and milk quality.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Maggot Hermetia illucens (Maggot Black Soldier Fly, MBSF) is an alternative protein source besides soybean meal (SBM) which may be used as a feed for improving the quality of semen particularly in Garut rams to support prolific nature. The aims of this study were to analyzed and compare the impact of different protein sources in feed on semen quality of Garut rams, and to assess the prediction ability of Garut rams to serve ewe in small-scale breeders in West Java, Indonesia. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications, consisted of Brachiaria humidicola (BH) grass and T1 (concentrate contains 20% of SBM), T2 (concentrate contains 10% of SBM and 10% of MBSF), and T3 (concentrate contains 20% of MBSF). The parameters measured were feed consumption, semen quality (macroscopic and microscopic characteristics), also a potential ability of rams to serve ewe. The results showed there were no significant effect on protein consumption, semen volume, semen pH, semen color and consistency, sperm mass movement, sperm motility, sperm concentration, sperm morphology, and prediction potential ability to serve ewe. However, the result showed a significant effect (P0.05) on sperm viability and sperm plasma membrane integrity. Sperm plasma membrane integrity of ram feed with T3 was better than T1 and T2 (P0.05). The prediction potential ability rams to serve ewes on MBSF treatment was 38 heads, while in T1 and T2 were 43 and 57 heads, respectively. In conclusion, MBSF can be an alternative source of protein besides SBM to improve the semen quality of Garut rams.  ABSTRAK. Maggot Hermetia illucens (Maggot Black Soldier Fly; MBSF) adalah sumber protein alternatif selain bungkil kedelai (SBM) yang dapat dipergunakan sebagai pakan untuk memperbaiki kualitas semen terutama pada domba Garut untuk mendukung sifat prolifik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan membandingkan dampak pemberian sumber protein berbeda terhadap kualitas semen domba Garut dan untuk menilai kemampuan domba Garut pejantan dalam melayani betina pada peternakan rakyat di Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan yang terdiri dari rumput Brachiaria humidicola (BH) dan T1 (konsentrat mengandung 20% SBM), T2 (konsentrat mengandung 10% SBM dan 10% MBSF), dan T3 (konsentrat mengandung 20% MBSF). Parameter yang diukur adalah konsumsi pakan, karakteristik semen (makroskopis dan mikroskopis) serta potensi domba jantan melayani betina. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan pada konsumsi protein pakan, volume semen, pH semen, warna dan konsistensi semen, gerakan massa sperma, motilitas sperma, konsentrasi sperma, morfologi sperma, dan prediksi potensi pejantan dalam melayani betina. Namun, hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan (P0.05) pada viabilitas sperma dan membran plasma utuh sperma. Membran plasma utuh pada perlakuan T3 lebih baik dibandingkan perlakuan T1 dan T2 (P0.05). Prediksi potensi betina terlayani dari pejantan yang diberi pakan MBSF adalah 38 ekor, sedangkan yang diberi SBM dan kombinasinya adalah 43 dan 57 ekor. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah MBSF dapat menjadi alternatif sumber protein selain bungkil kedelai dalam memperbaiki kualitas sperma domba Garut.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Pucuk tebu dan titonia merupakan hijauan alternatif yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber energi dan sumber protein pada ternak ruminansia, tetapi terkendala dengan adanya kandungan lignin dan zat anti nutrisi. Untuk itu dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi pucuk tebu dan titonia fermentasi terhadap kecernaan fraksi serat (NDF, ADF, selulosa dan hemiselulosa) secara in-vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu A (100% Pucuk Tebu Fermentasi + 0% Titonia Fermentasi), B (75% Pucuk Tebu Fermentasi + 25% Titonia Fermentasi), C (50% Pucuk Tebu Fermentasi + 50% Titonia Fermentasi), dan D (25% Pucuk Tebu Fermentasi + 75% Titonia Fermentasi) dengan 5 ulangan. Pengaruh perlakuan terhadap parameter yang diuji dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan jika ada perbedaan antar perlakuan. Hasil sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap kecernaan fraksi serat (NDF, ADF, selulosa dan hemiselulosa). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan C (50% Pucuk Tebu Fermentasi + 50% titonia Fermentasi) memberikan hasil yang terbaik terhadap kecernaan NDF (78,13%), ADF (76,76%), selulosa (80,81%) dan hemiselulosa (81,11 %).  (In-vitro digestibility of fiber fractions combination of sugarcane tops and tithonia as ruminant feed) ABSTRACT. Sugarcane tops and tithonia are alternative forages that can be used as an energy source and protein source in ruminants, but are constrained by the presence of lignin and anti nutrients. For this reason, a study was conducted to determine the effect of a combination of fermented sugarcane tops and fermented tithonia on the digestion of the fiber fraction(NDF, ADF, cellulose, and hemicellulose).The research design used a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 treatments, namely A (100% fermented sugarcane tops and 0% fermented tithonia), B (75% fermented sugarcane tops and 25% fermented tithonia), C (50% fermented sugarcane tops and 50% fermented tithonia), D (25% fermented sugarcane tops and 75% fermented tithonia) with 5 replications. Effect of treatment on parameters tested using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) if there are differences between treatments. The results of experiments showed that treatments gave a very significant difference (P 0.01) to the in-vitro digestibility of fiber fraction (NDF, ADF, cellulose, and hemicellulose). From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the treatment C (50% sugarcane tops fermentation and 50% fermented tithonia) gives the best results on the in-vitro digestibility of fiber fraction NDF (78,13%), ADF (76,76%), cellulose (80,81%) and hemicellulose (81,11 %).

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian PGF2α dalam pengencer semen komersial (Andromed) terhadap peningkatan motilitas spermatozoa kambing Nubian. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel semen yang dikoleksi dari 3 ekor kambing Nubian berumur 2-3 tahun menggunakan vagina buatan dan dievaluasi kualitasnya secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Setelah dievaluasi, sampel semen ditambahkan pengencer Andromed lalu dibagi atas 3 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu: P1; P2; dan P3 yang masing-masing ditambahkan NaCl fisiologis; 37,5 µg PGF2α; dan 75 µg PGF2α. Seluruh sampel disimpan dalam refrigerator selama 4 jam dan dilakukan pemeriksaan motilitas spermatozoa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam pola satu arah (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa motilitas spermatozoa (%) kambing Nubian pada P1; P2; dan P3 masing-masing adalah 26,33±5,5; 62,0±3,5; dan61,8±10,13 (P0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan PGF2α pada pengencer Andromed dapat meningkatkan motilitas spermatozoa kambing Nubian.  (The improvement of sperm motility in Nubian goat after PGF2α administration in andromed semen diluents) ABSTRACT. The study aims to determine the administration effect of PGF2α in a commercial semen diluents (Andromed) on improvement of Nubian goat sperm motility. This study used semen samples that collected from three Nubian goats aged 2-3 using artificial vagina and their quality evaluated macroscopically and microscopically. After evaluated, semen samples were added with Andromed diluents then divided into three groups (P1, P2, and P3) where each group was then added with 0,9% physiologic NaCl, 37.5 µg PGF2α, and 75 µg PGF2α, respectively and stored in a refrigerator for 4 hours and subsequently spermatozoa motility was examined. The data obtained were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan test. The results showed that the spermatozoa motility (%) of Nubian goats at P1, P2, and P3 were 26.33±5.5, 62.0±3.5, and 61.8±10.13, respectively. Based on the statistical tests showed that the administration of PGF2α at P2 and P3 had a significant effect (P0,05) on the motility of spermatozoa of Nubian goats, but the motility decreased in P1. The conclusion of this study is the addition of PGF2α to Andromed diluents can increase the motility of spermatozoa of Nubian goats.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan bahan pakan fermentasi yang terutama tersusun atas tepung limbah ikan leubim dan tepung indigofera sebagai substitusi sebagian ransum komersil ayam petelur terhadap penampilan produksi telur puyuh. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP), Program Studi Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Syiah Kuala selama 10 minggu. Penelitian ini menggunakan 80 ekor puyuh (Coturnix coturnix japonica) betina dara umur 4 minggu. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok. Setiap kelompok merupakan unit percobaan yang masing-masing terdiri atas 5 ekor puyuh betina dara. Ransum perlakuan adalah ransum komersil ayam petelur yang disubstitusi dengan bahan pakan campuran fermentasi: 20% tepung limbah ikan leubim + 11% tepung daun indigofera + 45,4% menir + 20% dedak jagung + 3,6% tepung kulit kerang sebanyak 0, 10, 20, dan 30%. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa ransum komersil ayam petelur dapat disubstitusi sampai 30% dengan bahan pakan campuran fermentasi yang tersusun atas tepung limbah ikan leubim 20% + tepung daun indigofera 11% + menir 45,4% + dedak jagung 20% + tepung kulit kerang 3,6% tanpa menurunkan secara nyata produksi, berat dan massa telur, konsumsi dan konversi ransum, serta berat badan akhir dan pertambahan berat badan puyuh.  (Egg productions of quails fed the commercial rations partially substituted by fermentation feed ingredients based on the mixture of Leubim fish waste meal and Indigofera sp.) ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the partial substitution of commercial ration with fermented feed ingredients based on leubim fish (Canthidermis maculata) waste meal and Indigofera sp. meal on the appearance of quail egg production. The research was conducted at the Field Laboratory of Animal Husbandry, Animal Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University for 10 weeks. The study used 80 female quails (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) at 4 weeks of age. The study was designed into randomized block design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 blocks. Each block was an experimental unit, each consisting of 5 quails. The treatment was commercial ration of laying hens partially substituted by fermented feed ingredients composed of 20% leubim fish waste meal + 11% Indigofera sp. meal + 45.4% broken rice + 20% corn bran + 3.6% clam shell meal as many as 0, 10, 20, and 30%. The results of study showed that commercial ration of laying hens could be substituted up to 30% with a mixture of fermented feed ingredients composed of 20% leubim fish waste meal +11% Indigofera sp. meal + 45.4% broken rice + 20% corn bran + 3.6% clam shell meal without significantly reduced egg production, egg weight, and egg mass, feed consumption and FCR, and final body weight and average body weight gain of quails.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Buah parijoto termasuk tanaman herbal yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam bidang peternakan sebagai obat dan pakan ternak. Kandungan buah parijoto berupa flavonoid, antioksidan dan saponin dapat meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan suhu tubuh, frekuensi pernapasan dan profil sel darah putih kambing Peranakan Etawa yang diberi ekstrak buah parijoto. Kambing Peranakan Etawa betina berjumlah 16 ekor umur 1,5-2 tahun dengan bobot badan 80±0,57 kg. Ekstrak buah parijoto diberikan selama 21 hari dan semua data parameter diambil pada hari ke-1, ke-7, ke-14 dan ke-21. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial 2 faktor (dosis pemberian dan waktu pengamatan) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan 4 ulangan. Hasil Interaksi dosis ekstrak buah parijoto dengan waktu pengamatan tidak berpengaruh terhadap suhu badan pada kambing Peranakan Etawa dan antara perlakuan dosis ekstrak buah parijoto dan waktu pengamatan terhadap suhu badan, frekuensi pernapasan dan presentasi neutrofil pada kambing peranakan etawa dengan nilai berturut turut yaitu 0,71; 0,25 dan 0,56 (P0,05). Interaksi dosis ekstrak buah parijoto dengan waktu pengamatan yaitu 0,02; 0,03; 0,01 sehingga terdapat pengaruh nyata (P0,05) antara perlakuan dosis ekstrak buah parijoto dan waktu pengamatan terhadap jumlah sel darah putih, presentasi monosit dan presentasi eosinophil pada kambing peranakan etawa. Pemberian ekstrak buah parijoto dengan dosis dan waktu pengamatan memberikan pengaruh (P0,05) terhadap dengan jumlah sel darah putih, presentasi monosit, presentasi eosinophil tetapi tidak berpengaruh (P0,05) pada suhu badan, frekuensi pernapasan dan presentasi neutrofil.  (Effects of parijoto (Medinilla speciosa) fruit extract in body temperature, respiratory frequency and profile of white blood cells on etawa crossbred goat) ABSTRACT. Parijoto fruit includes herbs that can be utilized in the field of livestock as medicine and fodder. The content of the Parijoto fruit in the form of flavonoids, antioxidants, and saponins can increase body endurance. The study aims to determine the relation of body temperature, respiratory frequency and the profile of white blood cells of the Etawa crossbred goat which had given Parijoto fruit extract. The Etawa crossbred goat is 16 head 1.5-2 years old with body weight 80 ± 0.57 kg. Parijoto fruit extracts were administered for 21 days and all parameter data is taken on the 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st day. The study used a complete randomized design of 2-factor factorial (given dose and observation time) consisting of 4 4-replay treatments. The parameters calculated in this study are body temperature, respiratory frequency, white blood cell count, differential leukocytes. The interaction of the dose of Parijoto fruit extract with the time of observation has no effect on the body temperature in the etawa crossbred goat and the treatment of the dose of Parijoto fruit extract and during observation of the body temperature, respiratory frequency and presentation of neutrophils in the  Etawa crossbred goat 0.25 and 0.56 (P0.05). Interaction of the dose of Parijoto fruit extract with the current observation of 0.02, 0.03, 0.01 So there is a noticeable influence (P0.05) between the dose treatment of parijoto fruit extract and when observing the number of white blood cells, monocyte presentation and eosinophil presentation on the  Etawa crossbred goat. The administration of Parijoto fruit extracts with doses and when the observation gives effect (P0.05) against the number of white blood cells, monocyte presentation, eosinophil presentation but has no effect (P0.05) at body temperature, respiratory frequency and neutrophil presentation.
